How is DeskAlerts different from sending an Outlook email?
Email depends on employees opening their inbox. DeskAlerts delivers alerts as pop-ups directly on the desktop screen — appearing on top of all open windows and impossible to miss. High-priority alerts override Do Not Disturb mode. Messages reach employees the moment they're sent, not when someone decides to check their inbox.

Can we send immediate and scheduled alerts?
Yes. Alerts can be sent instantly or scheduled for a specific date and time. You can also set recurrence for repeating notifications and configure autoclose settings so messages disappear after a defined period.

Can we track who received and acknowledged alerts?
Yes. DeskAlerts tracks delivery and acknowledgment at the individual level. You can see who received each alert, who viewed it, and who clicked the Acknowledge button. Reports are available per user and per device, with charts, and can be exported to CSV for audit or compliance purposes.

How is the app deployed?
DeskAlerts is available as an on-premise installation on your own infrastructure (Windows Server 2016+, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server) or as a fully managed cloud instance hosted by DeskAlerts on AWS. The cloud option is not self-service — the DeskAlerts team handles all deployment, setup, and maintenance. A DeskAlerts agent is installed on each recipient device (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).

Does DeskAlerts integrate with Entra ID / Active Directory?
Yes. DeskAlerts integrates with both Active Directory and Azure AD (Entra ID). AD sync is included in all packages. Entra ID integration, including SSO for publishers and agents, is included in the Full and Essential packages and available as an optional add-on in Lite.

How is user data integrated — CSV export or directory sync?
User and group data is synchronized directly from Active Directory or Entra ID, no manual CSV imports required for directory-based environments.

Can I build distribution lists — which team gets different types of alerts?
Yes. You can target alerts by Active Directory groups, organizational units (OUs), custom groups, IP range, or individual machines. This allows you to send specific alert types to specific teams, locations, or roles without broadcasting to the entire organization.
