Company overview
KRKA is an international generic pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Slovenia. KRKA is selling its products to more than 70 countries around the globe.
Summary
At KRKA, system issues and quality concerns required immediate action. So they integrated an alert system with their intranet to instantly inform employees and production line operators about maintenance, failures, or urgent quality issues. With this solution, they reduced their support workload, improved response speed, and prevented costly product contamination, saving a significant amount of time and money.

Challenge
Informing the employees and manufacturing line operators about system failures, system maintenance, system upgrades, or other important events. Some recipients were using Terminals, while others were accessing the company’s intranet.
Solution
DeskAlerts software was integrated with the KRKA intranet, and the usage of its alerts has helped to decrease the number of calls to the tech support department.

Mostly, we use DeskAlerts for fast notification of all users in production who are currently working on a computer. We have several information systems, which from time to time we need to perform some maintenance tasks. Before DeskAlerts, we needed 2-3 hours to check that everybody has been informed about maintenance (emails, calling, …) and this involved 4-5 persons.

Result
KRKA employees are now always informed about the critical events, and this is making their work more effective.

Before, we had to send 2-3 people to walk through offices and share information with everybody, now we simply inform them by using DeskAlerts (easy 1 hour is lost).

In the future, the company wants to expand the reach and notify not only on-site employees but also those out of office.

Next, with DeskAlerts, we make sure that also people who have not been in the company during some events are informed and can react when they come back to the office. An example is the upgrade of a client, which should be performed asap due to security or other reasons. For this, I cannot even measure how beneficial this is for us.

The company is also planning to use DeskAlerts for product-related issues.

Another less time/money saving but highly important task is to prevent Quality issues. For example, informing end users in production if QA detects that some equipment is not OK or that some working place has to be stopped immediately.
With DeskAlerts, we can react very fast and prevent possible contamination of the product. This can sometimes mean saving several €1,000.
